What is IELTS?
IELTS means International English Language Testing System; it is a standardized test used to test English proficiency in non-native speakers. It is jointly managed by British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia, and Cambridge Assessment English (CAE).

How many modules are there in IELTS?
Two modules: General and Academic.
Is IELTS paper based or computer based?
IELTS is most times paper based (with pencil) and objective, but, there is computer based which is usually difficult most times to get at the required time frame needed.
How many parts is IELTS divided into?
The listening, reading and writing tests are carried out on the same day with no break, so come prepared.
How is the speaking test conducted in IELTS?
You are taken into a room to sit across an examiner to speak while the examiner assesses you.
How long is the speaking test?
The test takes around twenty (20) minutes.
How long do the listening, reading and writing exams take?
The main test takes about Two hours, forty-five (2hours 45 minutes).
NOTE: you are advised to make arrangements to be close to the location of the exam for IELTS seven (7) days prior and after the main test date, for the speaking test as it could be scheduled at any time, unless otherwise stated.
What is the band scale in IELTS?
Band scale signifies score/result; the band scale for IELTS is 9.0.
NOTE: 7.5 and above is typically known as a good score while 5.5 – 6.5 is an average score.
When is IELTS written?
IELTS is written round the year, but you must register for the examination five (5) weeks before an intended period to get a good and suitable date and location.
Where are the centers for IELTS and IELTSUKVI located?
IELTS: centers are located all over the country: Abuja, Ajah/Lekki, Abeokuta, Akure, Benin, Calabar, Enugu, Ibadan, Ikorudu, Ilorin, Kano, Lagos Mainland, Lagos Island, Port Harcourt, and Warri.
IELTSUKVI: centers are located in Abuja, Lagos (Mainland and Island) only.
Can I reschedule the IELTS examinations?
Yes, you can but, it has to be done five (5) weeks before the test date, at an extra cost to be borne by you.
Is it important to register for IELTS tutorials?
Yes, it is important because the tutorial shows you the technicalities involved in answering the questions given; knowing when to use compound-complex sentences and proper use high level words.
Is there a fee for the tutorials?
Yes, there is a fee for the tutorial and classes are made flexible to suit the student. Dates are given to the student to pick and decide what works for them. The classes are held on an hourly base, and billing is done hourly too.
Are there materials made available to the applicants?
Yes, there are materials that are made available to the applicant, both online and offline at a cost. The material given for IELTS is “Barron’s IELTS” which contains CD’s (for listening exercise/practice) with past questions. There is also an official guide which can be made available on request as we do not stock it.
What is a score report?
This is the result score gotten immediately the result is released; it is a score sheet of your performance; it can be automatically sent out to the desired schools if selected at the point of registration. You can send up to four (4) score reports automatically with no extra charges when requested at the point of registration (when filling the form) but, if the score report is requested after the date of release, it attracts an extra charge.
When should I expect my result?
Results are made available online thirteen (13) days after test is taken; the hard copy can be picked up at their office.
What document is needed for IELTS registration?
Data page of the International Passport is needed at the point of registration.
What items are you expected to take to the examination venue?
Your valid ORIGINAL International Passport and the ORIGINAL National identification card (not the slip) is the required document to be taken by the test taker to the test venue on the day of the examination.
Can I rewrite the examination if failed?
Yes, you can.
What is the score validity?
The grace for the score to remain valid is two (2) years.
What is IELTS for UKVI?
IELTS for UKVI is an approved English Language Test for visa applications to the UK.
If you need an IELTS test result as a part of your application to UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI), you will need to take your test at a specific test location authorized by UKVI.
What are the different IELTS for UKVI tests you can take?
When do I get my result? If you have taken IELTS on paper, you will be able to preview your results on your test taker portal after 13 days from the test date.
If you have taken IELTS on a computer, you will be able to preview your results on your test taker portal after 5 to 7 calendar days from the test date.
